Education & Democracy United (EDU) is a nationwide alliance of educators, students, and advocates for academic freedom of speech, thought, and action. We founded EDU in March 2025 on the belief that education and democracy are intrinsically linked. Our goal is to create a platform for collaborative action and dialogue to address challenges facing academic freedom today.

At Education & Democracy United (EDU), we’re building a nonviolent, nonpartisan movement dedicated to protecting student, faculty, and staff voices and ensuring that every campus is a forum for learning, debate, and public service. Together, we believe an open and accountable university system is essential to a free and thriving United States.
Through our network of local chapters and affiliate groups, EDU trains, supports, and connects community members who are working to strengthen democratic values on their campuses. Our organization defends and empowers free expression, academic freedom, constitutional rights, and civic engagement.
